Esta mañana hemos salido de Amman dirección a la provincia de Madaba. Allí hemos parado en la ciudad de Madaba para ver la iglesia de San Jorge. Después nos hemos dirigido a las afueras para poder ver el monte Nebo, donde Moisés avistó la tierra prometida.

La iglesia de San Jorge

Es una iglesia bizantina que en su suelo nos muestra un tesoro increïble. Se trata de un mosaico gigante (parcialmente conservado) donde se muestra toda la tierra santa y sus alrededores. Además, en griego y como parte del mosaico, ubicanon los nombres de los lugares con diferentes colores para distinguir si pertenecían al antiguo o al nuevo testamento.

El Monte Nebo, donde Moisés avistó la Tierra Prometida

Lo mejor de este lugar han de ser las vistas porque, por lo visto, si el día te acompaña y no hay ninguna tormenta de arena como nos pasó a nosotros, puedes ver Jerusalen desde el mismo lugar donde lo vio Moises por primera vez. Los restos de Moises no han sido hallados a día de hoy, con lo cual no hay tumba, por este motivo pusieron una piedra gigante para conmemorarlo.

Este es un lugar de peregrinaje cristiano y los tours a Jerusalen+Jordania lo suelen incluir en sus recorridos.
